Homework Assignment

updated 5/27/09

1) Try to use Excel for a project you have - something simple may be a personal budget -
  • create column for date, name of bill, amount
  • check formating and make changes as needed
  • total up your bills
  • using excel, make changes (like pay two months ahead on car insurance) so that you can see the total changing
  • create a pie chart that shows what percentage you are spending
*see tutorials above for extra help

2) Try to use Excel for a project at Upward Bound - something you may on your desk or something you have seen in a report you have gotten...
  • create columns for data
  • check formating and make changes as needed
  • use totals or basic formulas (like =4*$500)
  • create a chart

  • I will search for a "worksheet" that is more of a guide through these processes with screen shots of the steps, until then, try to play!
Feel free to email or call with questions...we'll plan on Excel Part 2 for another time :)
Thanks! It was a pleasure to work with all of you today
